As part of our Lab Software Projects Deep Dive series, #TeamKC is addressing the various project types we work on and how we help biotechs feel more confident when working with their laboratory software.
In Part 2, we discuss Karchem Consulting's Managed Services and how our team's white-glove service will guarantee that your data system perfectly suits your lab and its objectives.
After Karchem Consulting completes the Evaluation process for a biotech, clients will often keep us on while we transition into managed services. In most cases, we’re brought on for managed services to support a growing team where a biotech doesn't have the resources to hire full-time support. Team KC will help take the load off scientists managing the system and let them get back to the science. During a managed services project we begin to address client priorities in an “on-the-go” style. We serve as your scientific and technical liaisons, ready to tackle anything, including day-to-day system support, onboarding and offboarding, training, and executive projects. We will often work in chunks, starting with a team of scientists from your biotech that will have the biggest impact.
Solutions Tailored to Your Lab
Your data system needs to mold to fit your lab's science, not the other way around. Here at Karchem Consulting, we believe in the value and benefits of data architecture that's personalized to our clients and designed to support their specific needs. We ensure that all of your samples, assays, and workflows are accounted for and optimized for maximum efficiency within your lab. Our customized approach means we can meet scientists exactly where they are in their research development by using phased, scalable configurations that reduce ELN burdens and set them up for long-term success.
When To Automate, When Not To
Automating certain processes within your lab's data management can have massive impacts on your lab's accuracy and efficiency. Automation helps workflows by streamlining how data is moved across teams and research stages, making traceability, reproducibility, and compliance far easier. Based on our knowledge of software vendors like Benchling, Revvity, and Labguru, our team of technical experts are able to identify consistent and repeatable areas in your laboratory software workflows where automation can be key.
As nice as automation is, it can be risky to try and automate everything all at once. If a data model is flawed or lacks the proper structure, for example, then automating it could actually cause more harm than good. We will get to know your scientists, their SOPs, and what your data looks like in order to set up the best possible foundation for automating.
Anticipating Your Needs & Proactively Adapting
Here at Karchem Consulting, we are scientists first. Our background in the lab helps our team understand our clients' specific needs because we've often done similar research ourselves, or sometimes the very same work. Our ingrained industry knowledge, totalling more than 60 years across our entire team, allows us to be highly in tune with the intricacies of your lab's experimental processes and research concepts. This provides us with a key advantage when it comes to anticipating your lab's needs and adapting to changes in your research.
In some cases, we find that a client's existing data system is no longer working for them. When this happens, we begin the Selection process for a new system to meet your needs. We’ll make sure your system is flexible, and balances the wants and needs of your teams to find the best fit.
We'll discuss this in Part 3 of our Lab Software Projects Deep Dive series.
