Role: Consultant

Team: Amigo Acids

In this month’s #TeamKC Spotlight, we showcase Amanda Kailher, Consultant on the Amigo Acids team at Karchem. Amanda talks about how her role differs from her colleagues at Karchem Consulting, her passion for helping a small company grow, and how Boston supports her love for both science and discovering new restaurants around the city.

For Amanda Kailher, the intersection of science, business, and technology has always been the goal. Before joining Karchem Consulting, Amanda earned her B.S. in Molecular & Cellular Biology with minors in Chemistry and Marketing from Sacred Heart University, knowing she wanted a career that blended all three areas together.

“When I saw the role at KC, it seemed like the perfect fit in a niche I never knew existed,” Amanda said.

That unique niche quickly turned into a role that evolved beyond traditional consulting work. While Amanda initially focused primarily on client projects, her role naturally expanded to include marketing and business development as the company continued to grow. Today, she splits her time between client work and managing marketing initiatives for Karchem Consulting.

“Being part of a small company as it grows offers you opportunities to take on something new every day, and I’m extremely lucky to be on a team that recognizes my desire to get involved,” she said.

Karchem’s close-knit team combined with Amanda’s people and relationship-based management style creates an atmosphere where the team highlights each other’s strengths and shares knowledge. That level of investment and flexibility ultimately translates to client projects and success.

“The more defined processes you can create earlier on, the easier it is to see what works and what doesn’t based on a client or team,” Amanda said. “When a project backbone is in place, you can pivot quickly and reprioritize as needed.”

One project that stands out to Amanda involved supporting a CLIA lab working under an especially tight timeline. While the client team was still confirming SOPs, Karchem Consulting was simultaneously building templates and workflows, requiring constant communication and flexibility from everyone involved.

“We had to be flexible and pivot quickly when something new popped up. Being the glue that connected the teams was a really rewarding experience,” she said.

When Amanda isn’t connecting clients with Team KC, or acting as the glue between lab groups, she loves connecting with diverse Boston-area biotechs and biopharma teams, leading the Massachusetts chapter of the Bio Pharma Networking Group and furthering her industry knowledge. Her home in Boston supports not only that love for science, but a passion for challenges outside of work.

“I love staying active with a challenging workout class. I’m also a huge foodie. I tried 200 spots last year!” Amanda said.

From connecting with clients and growing Karchem Consulting’s business through marketing strategies, to hitting as many new restaurants as possible, Amanda is motivated and inspired by a challenge.
